FINAL PE POST.

How is my attendance/ readiness to participate/ and punctuality?

My attendance throughout the whole entire year has been excellent, besides the days I was sick and gone to doctor appointments. My readiness to participate in class would be 7 on a scale between 1 and 10 with one being not ready at all and 10 being 100% into it. The reason why I say that is because when it comes to non- fitness days I am all into it and ready to participate, well most times anyways, but the reason why i said 7 is because when it is fitness days I mostly not willing to participate mentally and always second guessing myself weather I should or should not try. Moreover, my punctuality. I would say I am very punctual when it comes to knowing where I have to go, arriving on time, and always wearing gym strip. So I would say my punctuality is very good in those aspects.

Has my fitness improved, and if yes, show evidence and why I improved.

Yes, my fitness has improved over the course in the past few months. Actually the area where my fitness did improve in was my cardio, and that was actually my goal I set for myself a couple months back. So yes my fitness did improve in cardio and the reason why I know that is because my score in the beep test went up. I think around the beginning of the year I ran a 5.5, which was kind of bad, but actually last Friday when my class did the beep test again, I actually ran a 7.4. So to me at least, that seems like a big improvement in my cardio fitness. Moreover the reason why I did improve is because I have changed my diet from junk food to fruits and veggies. Also, I have began running on the treadmill that I have at my house and ride my bike. So with those 2 variables in my life, I was able to use these variables and improve my fitness.

How do I contribute to my class dynamics? What do I bring? Give examples.

I contribute to my class's dynamics by trying to bring a positive attitude, setting a good example for others, and and help when help is needed. This is what I contribute and bring to my class. Some great examples are when one of my classmates wanted to skip, but instead I talked them out of it and told them at least to be there and walk if not run. Another example would be putting the doge balls away after playing doge ball. Also try to smile as much as I can to build a positive atmosphere for others.

What does it mean to me to be physically educated? How am I ready for independence?

The words physically educated mean to me is a state where you know what is right and wrong or your health. Physically educated means where you have a knowledge to know what exercise do I need and don't need to reach my fitness goal. Physically educated means to know how to live a healthy life style without anyone there to tell you what to do. I would say I am ready for independence in healthy living because I know what it good and not good for me, I know what exercises I need to achieve my fitness goal. I know how to live a healthy lifestyle without anyone telling me. The only problem is will power. I don't have the power sometimes to make the healthy choice, but I do try.

What barriers are keeping me from living a healthy and active lifestyle?

There is one main barrier that is holding me back to reach my full potential in an active and healthy lifestyle, and that is my disease. It is an auto immune disease. The medications I take make me feel very lethargic and weak most of the times. But in order to overcome that barrier I try to eat right and and push myself, even though I sometimes just don't have the energy. That is why sometimes you may see me in gym class and wonder why I wan't going at the pace I was just going at.

What are some goals I have set for myself this year and did I complete them?

I have set some goals throughout the year for myself. The first one would be to improve my cardio. I set that when i ran really low on the beep test. In the end, I did manage to improve my cardio skills. So that would be one goal accomplished. Another goal I did set for myself was to eat healthier. Honestly, I have improved on what foods I eat,  but the junk food is still there, so the goal is still in progress. Another goal is to be more active at home. I think I have accomplished that goal because I have been using the tredmil I have more frequently. About 2-3 times a week. So for those are the goals I have set for myself and have mostly completed them.

What has my intensity level been throughout P.E?

My intensity level for each class throughout the course would have to be 8 on a scale to one to ten with ten being my best and one being my worst. I really want to push myself to keep on going when I get tired, but I always begin to slow down.

What do I think of P.E?

PE has been great. There is a lot different activities I enjoy about this course. For example, there is always something different to do each class. Also, fitness is only held two days a week; which I personally think is the perfect amount. So, overall, I think this course is going great and I would not change anything.

Am I a good leader in Active learning?

I would say I am more of a follower than  leader in active learning. I am more of a person who cleans up after and doesn't say much. This is something I should probably work on for next year.

Have I been taking digital evidence?

I have been taking digital evidence in class. I would say I have enough photos and videos to prove my point.

What do I deserve in P.E?

I would say I deserve a B in active learning for my final mark. Taking in consideration with all my obstacles to overcome, I think I have participated and got involved enough to show that I am a good student, who has potential.

  1. Shawn this is a great post. It is honest but positive, and sets some clear goals for next year. I love the video as evidence of things we did and that you enjoy. I am interested to hear more about the meds you take as part of being "physically educated" means to understand individual body needs and perhaps we can work smarter instead of harder to see more improvements? You have surely earned yourself an A this semester and I hope to see you next year with an even healthier diet and active habits. :)
